Participation information

 

  • Participation is free.
  • The photos must be submitted in JPG format in print resolution (at least 300 dpi) and be reproducible in A2 format (portrait or landscape) (420mm × 594mm).
  • The maximum upload size is 10 MB
  • Each photo should be submitted with a short title and/or a suitable quotation or personal statement.
  • Employees from the ARL Headquarters are excluded from participation
  • Our ARL jury will choose the winners in an anonymous selection process; there is no right of appeal

Declaration of consent

 


The following conditions of participation apply:

 

  1. The participants declare that they are in full possession of the copyrights of the photos they submit.
  2. The participants further declare that identifiable persons appearing in the photos have given their consent to publication and that this consent can be submitted upon request. (This excludes photos that are exempt from consent in accordance with § 23 KUG (German Act on the Protection of the Copyright in Works of Art and Photographs) and Art. 14 GDPR)*.
  3. The participants grant the ARL unrestricted rights of use to the submitted photos. (Copyrights remain unaffected.)**
  4. No watermarks may be visible on the photos. The photos should have a title and are to be accompanied by a short statement.
  5. The participants agree to the exhibition, online publication and printing of their photos.

 

Data protection

 

Participants’ data will be collected for the purpose of organising and running the competition, including the call for entries, submission process, jury and award ceremony. Your data will not be passed on to third parties, for example for advertising purposes. Participants have the right to receive information free of charge at any time about the origin, recipient and purpose of the personal data stored about them. Participants also have the right to request that this data be rectified or erased or that the processing of this data be restricted . All personal data will be deleted once the prizes have been awarded.

 



* According to Section 23 KUG, likenesses of the following persons may be published without their consent: a. persons of contemporary history, b. persons depicted only as an accessory, c. persons at meetings or processions, d. persons depicted as part of a photographic work of art. Article 6(1)(f) GDPR states that processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests of the controller or a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require the protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.

** Participants retain full copyright. They grant only the rights of use to the photos, which are unrestricted in terms of time and space.
